Wildflower interiorMy sister, mother and I tried out the Wildflower restaurant located on the north side of Tucson, Arizona. We got there at noon before the lunch rush hour and were greeted with smiles and seated right away. The interior was open and airy and the natural lighting was wonderful. That's definitely one of the pluses of living in the Southwest, lots of sunshine.

We picked tea for our beverage and it had a peach highlight which was refreshing. I chose fish and chips, my mom picked the parmesan noodles and my sister had the chicken salad sandwich. As we talked I was distracted by the background music which was a bit loud for conversation and I found myself leaning forward to listen to my companions. Fifteen minutes later we were served.

fish n chipsMy fish and chips were a bit meager, the fish was on the small side and didn't make a good first impression. The batter was light but I wasn't thrilled with the taste. The chips, thinly sliced potato fries were nicely browned and crisp and perfectly salted. The coleslaw was fresh, had a nice crunch, and was not soggy. I think the sides made the plate, especially considering there wasn't much to the protein and I thought it was way overpriced at $15.

My sister thought the chicken salad sandwich on walnut wheat bread was good, but she wasn't really thrilled with the addition of celery hearts. It was also served with potato fries. It was a basic sandwich for $9. Bison Witches has a much better sandwich and soup combo for less than the price of this dish.

The one highlight of the meal was the parmesan noodles my mom ordered. She loved the tomato sauce, spinach, chicken and pine nuts. She took her time and savored every bit and I was happy that one of us really enjoyed the meal.

Overall, I wouldn't revisit the Wildflower for the food. If I was looking for somewhere to have drinks then the ambiance and service were what makes the Wildflower stand out. But if you want food bang for your buck, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. My pocketbook was lightened by $55 and I really didn't feel like it was worth it.
